The system has a complete and compact design and allows to work with up to 8 animal

The OXYLET allows to study respiratory metabolism by way of indirect calorimetry, it is particularly adapted for studies on laboratory rodents (mice and rats).
The system enables to keep up with monitoring of CO2 production and O2 consumption, calculation of respiratory ratio exchange RER all together in specific designed cages.

Oxylet operates on mice and rats depending on research protocols. It includes the following components :
- Air supply and switching Unit allow cycles from 1 to 8 cages.
- Analysis Unit with 2 sensors LASER and Infra Red for the accurate measure of O2 and CO2
- High performance recording Unit to digitalise datas issued from the sensors.
- The « METABOLISM » sofware for compilation, calculation and correction of metabolic values ( Weight, air flow…)


The OXYLET system enables the researcher to follow up to 8 cages. Standard parametera that can be seen directely on the LCD screen of the apparatus are : VO2, VCO2, RER ( respiratory exchange rate), current air flow.
The software integrates through calculations, parameters dedicated to the experiment ( Weight of animals, Air flow) in order to correct raw datas of VO2 and VCO2 and enrich them with the calculation of energy expenditure, activity and food intake when these parameters are measured.

One of the main innovation of the OXYLET system is that to give an accurate measure it does not need the traditionnal air drying units or dessicant columns that can be found in older technology systems. Another strong point is the use of high sensitive sensors with a very fast response time for both O2 and CO2 measures.
Standard airtight cages enable to follow up rodent metabolism for several hours. Airtight Home cages are suggested with food and drink distributors when several days studies have to be performed.

In addition to the system, the activity of the animals can be recorded in one way through IR Cells belt (surface activity and rearing) and in another way through moving sensors (surface) and IR sensors for rearing.
The monitoring of foods and drinks is an important option of the OXYLET System.
