· Dependable, all-electronic ventilator
· Wide tidal volume and rate range
· Mice to Guinea pig size
· Expandable to larger animals
· Economical multiple-animal setups
· Safe with oxygen and anesthesia
To produce tidal volumes, a constant airflow is gated into the animal during inspiration. This FLOW RATE multiplied by the INSPIRATORY TIME gives the tidal volume. RESPIRATORY RATE is set independently, and shown on a digital meter. This approach provides extraordinary flexibility — a wide range of volumes, breaths-per-minute, and I/E ratios are possible with no hardware changes, and using just three front-panel controls. The quiet internal solenoid valves and airpump (Model SAR-830/A) are the only moving parts, which contribute to the long service life and excellent reliability of these units.
Operation
Setting up and operating the SAR-830 is easy. First, select an appropriate respiratory rate for the animal, and dial it in using the rate meter. Next, determine a tidal volume. Finally, select a flow rate and inspiratory time to deliver that volume. Tidal volume vs. weight tables are provided to help in the selection of suitable parameters. Sighs can be produced manually at any time, and a HOLD switch temporarily suspends inspiration.
Expandability
All SAR-830 series ventilators are easily expandable to ventilate larger animals, or several small animals simultaneously. This is accomplished using external valve assemblies plugged into an expansion connector on the rear panel. Each valve assembly requires a metered flow source. The external valves operate synchronously with the internal valves, but tidal volumes are independently set by varying the flow rate to each valve assembly.
SAR-830 series ventilators are compatible with oxygen and anesthesia. Models with an “A” suffix, which have internal air pumps. Anesthesia systems and a full range of accessories are also available. All models feature switchable 120/240VAC operation.
