The new Bioseb-Samba system is a revolutionary pressure measurement system - it's the ideal solution for all your requirements in terms of blood pressure measures by mice, rats and all kinds of rodents. It consists of the new Samba 201/202 Control Unit and the Samba Micro Pressure Transducer. The Samba system is suitable for numerous types of pressure measurement especially in the medical field.
|
|
|
Control Unit
The new Samba control unit is a compact, portable and battery operated unit equipped with internal memory for temporary data storage. The Samba 201 has one fiber optic port, while the Samba 202 is fitted with two ports, which allow for extended operations. The individual calibration data stored on the EPROM of each connected Samba transducer is automatically read by the control units to ensure exact measurements. The USB 2.0 data interface simplifies the data transmission to your computer and the 3.2 inch display performs sharp figures. |
Micro Pressure Transducer
The Micro Pressure Transducer is miniaturized, versatile and intended for use in demanding medical applications. It is highly stable, with high accuracy and low temperature drift. Innovative technology offers a possibility to increase measurement quality in many different medical fields. For MRI applications a 10 meter transducer is available.
The sensor, a silicon sensor element, is 0.36 mm in diameter for high pressure measurement (0.42 mm for low pressure) and connected to an optical bare fibre down to 0.25 mm in diameter (0.40 mm for fiber with radiopaque coating). The dimension, mechanical durability and accuracy makes it a versatile tool in many healthcare applications. Each transducer is delivered calibrated to minimize the need for customer calibration. The calibration data is stored on a small EPROM positioned on the connector and is read automatically at start up. This simplifies the use of the equipment and reduces the risk of human error.
3 different models of sensor are available:
• Samba Preclin 420 MR or Samba Preclin 360 MR: Miniature optical pressure transducers for research in vitro and in vivo. Low and high pressure ranges for use with MRI camera.
• Samba Preclin 420 LP: Miniature optical pressure transducers for research in vitro and in vivo. Low pressure range (-50 to +350 50 to +350mbar). Also with radiopaque coating.
• Samba Preclin 360 HP: Miniature optical pressure transducers for research in vitro and in vivo. Three high pressure ranges (-0.1 to 5 bar, -0.1 to 10 bar, -0.1 to 17 bar). Also with radiopaque coating.

Monitoring more straightforward than ever
With a Samba Preclin transducer, intravascular blood pressure (IBP) and left ventricular pressure (LVP) monitoring become more straightforward than ever. Inserted through the carotid or fermoral artery you can receive accurate, highresolution data to support your discoveries. Read, for example, how Chiba University in Japan used Samba Sensor’s equipment in their research on myocardial infarction in Nature Medicine Vol. 11, No. 3, 2005.1 |
Pressure patterns never observed before
The small size allows you to insert the sensor directly into the brain tissue or in the brain ventricles and measure very rapid trauma events. The extremely fast sampling rate and sensitivity enable you to see pressure patterns never observed before. A perfect example of these possibilities can be found in an article in European Journal of Neuroscience Vol. 21, No. 10, 2005.2 |
Insensitive to all electro-magnetic fields
Samba Preclin offers exciting opportunities when using MRI-scanners. The sensor gives you total freedom to monitor pressure while simultaneously capturing images in the latest high-end scanners. Gating also becomes more reliable and robust with the Samba Preclin transducer.
If placed in the tail artery of a rat, both IBP and respiratory signals can be captured using a single sensor (see chart, from B. Bjelke, MD, PhD. Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden 2003).

Why should you use Samba System?
• Pressure can be measured with higher precision and in places that were previously not possible.
• Continuous pressure data can be retrieved in real time during MRI/CT/PET/SPECT scanning.
• It’s a new tool to facilitate your scientific work and improve results.
• New science and knowledge can be revealed leading to more publications.
