OpSens Pressure Measurement System
Control unit: LifeSens
The LifeSens is a compact signal conditioner specifically designed for measuring physiological pressure. When combined with Opsens’ OPP-M fiber optic sensors, the LifeSens delivers outstanding pressure measurements with all the features required for life science applications. The LifeSens benefits from Opsens’ White Light Polarization Interferometry (WLPI) technology (Patent # 7,259,862), providing the most accurate and reliable absolute Fabry-Perot cavity length measurements.
The LifeSens delivers pressure measurements at a rate of 250 Hz. An internal manometer automatically corrects for atmospheric pressure change. The system accepts the Opsens’ SCPROM connector that stores OPP-M sensor gauge factor. Upon mating the sensor, the gauge factor is seamlessly transmitted to the LifeSens conditioner.
The LifeSens is equipped with a large visible LCD display and can be battery operated. It comes with a standard ±5 V output and a RS-232 communication port for real-time data acquisition. The LifeSens can be controlled directly using the front-panel keypad or remotely using the standard RS-232 interface. A rugged casing with a removable rubber boot provides good mechanical protection against intensive handling in tough environments.
OpSens Pressure Measurement System
Opsens’ OPP-M is a MEMS-based fiber optic pressure sensor designed for human and animal physiological pressure measurements.
These miniature 0.25 mm OD and 0.40 mm OD sen- sors are intended for use in catheters, guidewires or other devices enabling minimally invasive physiology pressure measurement. Its novel patent pending de- sign eliminates moisture-induced drift and minimizes thermal zero shift.
The bare optical pressure sensors are dedicated for company that wishes to performs own in-house sen- sor packaging unique to their product.
Opsens new encapsulated OPP-M is integration ready. The encapsulation can be done on the sensor tip and/or throughout the whole optical cable in different materials and sizes; customizable according to client specific OEM applications.
The packaged sensor significantly reduces the R&D in- vestment and integration efforts hence minimises the overall cost on implementation and manufacturing processes.
Combined with Opsens WLPI signal conditioning tech- nology (patent # 7,259,862) and with the inherent ad- vantages of fiber optic, the OPP-M addresses the medical industry requirements for long term accuracy, repeatability, low drift and high fidelity pressure meas- urements under the presence of harsh EM, RF, MR and microwave fields.
