SPECIAL ISSUE - TIP OF THE MONTH - AUGUST 2015
Bioseb's Advanced Dynamic Weight Bearing Test
AFST: System overview
Dear Researcher,

Hello, and welcome to Bioseb's tip of the month!

For this month's tip we will be discussing the advantages of Bioseb's Advanced Dynamic Weight Bearing (A-DWB) instrument.

Did you know that the advanced version of our Dynamic Weight Bearing Test takes advantage of a video solution and advanced algorithms or morphological analysis for faster and more accurate paw identification? This represents an efficient and advanced alternative to traditional incapacitance or static weight bearing test.

As University of Sherbrooke researchers noted, pre-clinical animal studies have suffered from lack of novelty and weak predictive value leading to the failure of over 80% of centrally acting drug candidates in phase III (2008). This can be directly attributed to the shortcomings of the traditional incapacitance tests which include over-stressing the animals due to restraint, and incomplete modeling due to the assessment of only 2 limbs.

Bioseb's A-DWB instrument solves these problems for the researcher. As the animal is allowed to move freely and without restraint in the chamber stress is reduced significantly. Also, the assessment of 4 total limbs provides a more accurate representation of the animal's condition leading to higher pharmacological predictive value.

New and improved with the Advanced model is the speed of operation and operator independence factor owing to the cutting-edge video and computer tracking software which allows the experimenter to set one-time scoring parameters which then automate the rest of the studies saving valuable lab time and resources.

Bioseb's Advanced Dynamic Weight Bearing instrument is groundbreaking in the field of in-vivo nociception behavioral assays and is sure to give you an edge over competing labs opening up publication in higher impact journals.
